Reporters Sans Frontières today released its World Press Freedom Index 2022 which assesses countries' press freedom records and intends to reflect the degree of freedom that journalists, news organisations, and users of the internet have in each country, and the efforts made by authorities to respect this freedom. Lerato Mbele speaks to SANEF executive director, Reggy Molausi about this. The 2022 index index revealed that Press freedom has many facets in Africa, ranging from the abundance of media outlets in Senegal (73rd) and South Africa (35th), to the deafening silence of privately owned media in Eritrea (179th) and Djibouti (164th).
