Woolworths expands same-day delivery in South Africa – here are the new locations

South African retailer Woolworths is expanding its online delivery networks with same-day delivery to locations across South Africa’s coast.

According to the group, the expansion strategy is to meet the festive season demand and assist customers in skipping long queues.

Woolworths said it now offers online delivery coverage for coastal towns, including:

Langebaan
Simon’s Town
Mossel Bay
George
Knysna
Plettenberg Bay
Jeffreys Bay
Margate
Richards Bay

Woolies Dash is now also offering scheduled delivery coverage for smaller holiday spots further away from retail stores, including:

Pringle Bay
Betty’s Bay
Kleinmond
Hermanus
Stanford
Wilderness
Sedgefield
St Francis Bay
Port Edward
Southbroom
Ramsgate
Port Shepstone

“As demand for online shopping continues to grow, we have continued to focus our investments on optimising the online shopping experience and order fulfilment across all our delivery networks,” said the group.

Over 70% of online food sales now emanate from the Woolworths App – which has Woolies Dash delivery, said Liz Hillock, the director of online and mobile at Woolworths.

Woolies Dash was recently integrated into the main Woolworths App, meaning that customers can use their WRewards, online promotions and vouchers. The updated Woolies App also brings the world of Food, Fashion, Beauty and Home together into one platform.

Woolworths also upgraded its next-day ‘Express’ delivery for Fashion, Beauty and Home earlier this year.

November also saw the launch of Click and Collect for Fashion, Beauty and Home, in over 250 areas in the Western Cape, with plans to phase in Woolworths in-store collection points and make this service available on the Woolies app in 2023, said Woolworths.

The group said it has also expanded its liquor offering, with customers in the V&A Waterfront and Somerset Mall being able to enjoy shopping wine, whiskey and other spirits online with on-demand delivery through Woolies Dash.

Two more physical stores are also set to launch in Hout Bay, Cape Town and Town Square, Johannesburg, in December, it said.
