  • A manhunt is underway for a farmworker who allegedly stabbed his former boss two days after he was fired.
  • The 53-year-old is recovering at home from a stab wound to his upper body. 
  • The suspect is still on the run.

Eastern Cape police have launched a manhunt for a farmworker who allegedly stabbed a farmer who had fired him a few days prior. 

Barkly East detectives said the stabbing occurred at around 08:30 on Thursday, two days after the 53-year-old farmer dismissed the worker.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli, said the 53-year-old farmer was inside his premises in Barkly East, when he was attacked and stabbed.

"The victim sustained injuries in the upper body and was treated at the nearest hospital," Nkohli said.  

The suspect is still at large.

A case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm has been registered for further investigation.
