City of Tshwane budget principles and priorities for 2021/22 with the MMC of Finance

The Executive Mayor and his team have been hard at work to compile a balanced and fully funded 2021/22 budget. Coming to government after the illegal tenure of the administrators, the City finances were in a dire state requiring urgent attention with a massive budget deficit of over R4 billion. Faced with this reality together with a difficult economic climate, the 2021/22 budget will be geared towards stabilising the City’s finances and driving quality service delivery. The budget has also been prepared with the intention of keeping rates and tariff increases as low as possible.
